The Russian folktale about an old woman's endless search for the Christ child.
Editorial : "The strikingly effective pictures are distinctive in design and rich in color." Booklist, ALA
She succinctly tells a story while dropping tiny little factual tidbits about the selected time period. The stories were entertaining and inspiring. And, it is getting stronger as time passes.
While I also use the book, it is good for those who learn that way. POF construction is nearest to the "real thing". I only wish we could have gotten the hero's pov at times during this story.. It could very well be that actually based on the other reviewers who seem to love it. When I purchased this item, I thought that it would be a flute solo book. Buddhism is not really emphasized in the material by the way, but more casually referenced, just an observation. I bought this book from Amazon.con after seeing posters of his prints (The Pagoda in Moonlight and the Benton Shrine over a lillies pond).
I also saw his framed woodblock prints in Japantown in San Francisco. I discovered the Burning Sands series a few months ago and after the 1st book i was HOOKED! Its a really great dark
