My Take
Don't bother picking this one up. If you want the story itself, I know Project Gutenberg and Librivox have free text and audio versions, respectively. It's okay. If you're looking for a real "History of Gay Cinema" -- look elsewhere.

I would also strongly recommend Alonso Duralde's 101 Must See Movies for Gay Men as an alternative to this book. Com for $14.95. Every child will have experienced some of the discomfort of Temple's childhood, a childhood which Carpenter brings to life with vivid details. The reprint publisher makes no mention of these omissions. Terne Lavigne is also involved, in more ways than one.
