Engineering students in a wide variety of engineering disciplines from mechanical and chemical to biomedical and materials engineering must master the principles of transport phenomena as an essential tool in analyzing and designing any system or systems wherein momentum, heat and mass are transferred. This textbook was developed to address that need, with a clear presentation of the fundamentals, ample problem sets to reinforce that knowledge, and tangible examples of how this knowledge is put to use in engineering design. Professional engineers, too, will find this book invaluable as reference for everything from heat exchanger design to chemical processing system design and more. * Develops an understanding of the thermal and physical behavior of multiphase systems with phase change, including microscale and porosity, for practical applications in heat transfer, bioengineering, materials science, nuclear engineering, environmental engineering, process engineering, biotechnology and

Editorial : this is the first textbook to "truly address transport phenomena in the context of all such phase changes, and to do so from a fundamental viewpoint, with analytical and numerical approaches, with an eye toward emerging technologies.-Mechanical Engineering, January 2007

There are MANY times we will re-read several chapters so that daddy can catch-up to where we are.& my son never minds re-reading the material cuz it's THAT HILARIOUS!!! One other point I wanted to mention is that this is a seriesand does follow a series, although you don't necessarily have to read them in any order whatsoever. The author presents the build exercise in a very approachable (and not at all intimidating) manner.
However, for those who are not experienced model ship builders, this can still be a very good book, provide you have some background. His thorough research, smooth writing skills, and thoughtful analysis are on display on each page. It is not easy to be editor of a group of authoritative authors whose writing talents may range from sub-abysmal to sublime, so it is difficult to fault any particular person or persons with the undulating quality of the book's prose.

The illustrations include some fine photos (but usually printed in tiny format) and car
